Nilkrishna Nirmalkumar Gajare, son of a farmer from Belkhed, Mangrulpir, district Washim, secured All India Rank (AIR) One in Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) Main 2024. He achieved a perfect score of 300. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results of JEE Mains 2024 Session 2, on Thursday, with 56 students scoring 100 percentile. Among these high achievers is Nilkrishna. Nilkrishna’s father Nirmalkumar is a farmer and mother Yogita is a homemaker. He has a sister Gargi who is studying in Class X and is preparing for JEE. Nilkrishna, is a student of Shri Dnyaneshwar Maskuji Burungle Arts and Science Junior College, Shegaon, district Buldhana. “I spent my childhood in our village Belkhed. We mostly depend on farming for our livelihood,” Nilkrishna told ‘The Hitavada’.
 
Nilkrishna’s father Nirmalkumar Gajare said, “We are not very rich. You know the conditions farmers are facing these days. But, I and my wife have made up our minds that our children should not face such hardships. We ask them to focus on study. I feel proud that Nilkrishna studied hard and succeeded.” The financial constraints of the family did not deter Nilkrishna while studying. “I express gratitude to my parents for their continuous support. I was aware that they might not fulfill my needs. But, they kept encouraging me and did not leave any stone unturned while fulfilling my needs. They stood with me when I was not scoring very high.” Nilkrishna wants to pursue research in Physics, it motivated his focus on JEE. His aim is to do B. Tech in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai.
 
Mohd Sufiyan also scores 300 marks
Muhammed Sufiyan, a student of Seva Sadan High School, Nagpur, who hails from Daryapur, Amravati, too scored 300 marks, but he secured AIR 16. Nilkrishna Gajare got the advantage as he is elder than Muhammed. His father Mohd Rehber is a teacher of Urdu, Persian and English at Shamim Azad School in Daryapur. His mother Sharequa Shabnum is an MSc BEd in Phytogenetics and is a homemaker. His elder brother Kamran Akhter is studying MBBS in Government Medical College, Chandrapur. Muhammed Sufiyan wants to pursue Computer Science at IIT.
