Intense heat swept large swathes on Sunday with maximum temperature soaring above 40 degree Celsius in most part of state. According to Meteorology Department, maximum temperature hovered between 40 to 44 degree Celsius in Madhya Pradesh. 27 cities including Bhopal, Satna, Tikamgarh, Sidhi, Rewa experienced intense heat. Highest day temperature was recorded in Satna as 43.2 degree Celsius followed by Tikamgarh 42 degree Celsius, Khandwa 42.1 degree Celsius, Rewa 42.2 degree Celsius, Sidhi 42.4 degree Celsius, Khajuraho 42.6 degree Celsius, Malajkhand 42.8 degree Celsius. In afternoon hours, cloud cover brought smile on faces of citizens in Bhopal. IMD has forecast storm and heat wave for next four days in various parts of state. Weather department said that weather would be changing from May 6 with light rainfall in eastern part of state. Meteorology Department, Bhopal said a western disturbance is becoming active from Iran that would bring rainfall in MP on May 6 and 7.
 
Meteorology Department has issued health warning due to the intense heat in parts of state with increasing day temperature. The Meteorology Department, Bhopal said, temperature may cross 45 degree mark in the city this month.
Maximum temperature in Bhopal was recorded as 40.3 degree Celsius and minimum 25.8 degree Celsius. Gwalior recorded day temperature as 41.8 degree Celsius and minimum 23.9 degree Celsius. Indore recorded maximum temperature 38.4 degree Celsius and minimum 27.0 degree Celsius. Ujjain recorded day temperature 39.5 degree Celsius and minimum 27.0 degree Celsius. Jabalpur recorded maximum temperature as 40.9 degree Celsius and minimum 24.8 degree Celsius.
