Six Naxals killed in fierce C’garh gunbattle

ATLEAST six Maoists were killed in a fierce gunbattle with the security forces on Dantewada-Sukma Border on Sunday, claimed Bastar Range Police.
However, the police recovered the bodies of only four rebels from the spot and that too all women, in addition arms and ammunition. As per police sources, among the slain femme fatale, one was identified as Rame, Area Commander of Malangir Area Committee, whereas as other insurgents namely Sanni, Mase and Pandy, were Local Operating Squad (LOS) members of Malangir Area Committee.
The encounter took place on top of the Nagalguda hills in the jungle area of PS Gadiras, which falls under Sukma Dantewada district borders.
“A composite team comprising of Dantewada District Reserve Group (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from Aranpur camp were conducting a joint operation, when they acting on a tip-off busted a Maoists camp of Malkangiri Area Committee, during the course of which the two sides exchanged heavy firing. The fierce gun fire virtually wiped out half of the Malkangiri Dalam,” said Bastar  
Range Inspector General of Police SRP Kalluri.
Meanwhile, according Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlochan Kashyap, one dreaded Maoists identified as Aaytu, Divisional Commander (DVC) of Darbha Division and In-Charge of Malkangiri Area Committee, who took a fatal bullet injuries in the ensuing gun battle, however, managed to flee from the battle scene along with a truckload of daily utilities that was brought in use at the camp.
SP Kashyap further informed that the security forces later recovered bodies of four women Maoists and also from their possession, a .303 service rifle and two 12- bore rifles. "In this major blow to the Maoists rebels, 40-member DRG Team number-1 of Dantewada Police led by ASI Sangram and HC Bhadru (a surrendered cadre and erstwhile DVC of Maoists of Darbha division) played a pivotal role. This team of DRG had started from Palnar, who were later reinforced in their strength by the DRG team of STF from village Sameli and the third team CRPF troopers Aranpur. Thus, three teams of the composite group participated as self reinforced parties and inflicted a deadly blow to the insurgents," he added.
Till the last reports last went for the print, Dantewada SP Kamlochan Kashyap and Sukma Superintendent of Police D Shravan Kumar were jointly overseeing the operation. The search parties were still inside the jungles.

ALERT security forces once again foiled nefarious designs of leftist insurgents on last Saturday afternoon, when they unearthed two powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), each weighing around 10 kilogram.
The IEDs were planted near a culvert between Bhejji and Kottacheru areas in Maoist-afflicted Sukma district.
According to information received here from the police sources, a squad of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), belonging to 219th Battalion, was engaged in search operation between Bhejji and Kottacheru
“During the search operation, the security forces stumbled upon the IEDs carefully planted to inflict casualty on them, but their sheer alertness and vigil on geographical terrains of the area marred by Maoist violence, prevented another major untoward happening,” the police sources maintained.
