‘2.0 will reach Hollywood level’

Despite our (Indian cinema’s) technical excellence and the financial strength, we could not reach Hollywood standard yet. But I’m confident this film will reach Hollywood level. It’ll be a film entire Indian film fraternity will be proud of.

Superstar Rajinikanth is confident about his most talked about film 2.0 and says it will reach Hollywood standard.
“I enjoyed working on this film. This subject is very unique. This is not just a prestigious picture for the producers, director Shankar or the unit but it’s one for the whole Indian cinema,” Rajinikanth said here at the first look launch event.


He’s confident the Rs.350 crore mega budget film will match Hollywood standards.
“Despite our (Indian cinema’s) technical excellence and the financial strength, we could not reach Hollywood standard yet. But I’m confident this film will reach Hollywood level. It’ll be a film our entire Indian film fraternity will be proud of,” he said.
Rajinikanth plays doctor-scientist Vaseegaran in the film, which is a sequel to his own 2010 blockbuster, Enthiran.
Akshay Kumar is being introduced as the antagonist and he plays a scientist called Richard, who turns into a Crow Man after an experiment goes wrong.


2.0 is an upcoming science fiction film helmed by S Shankar and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, founder of London-based Lyca Productions.
Superstar Rajinikanth also says the Khiladi of Bollywood is the hero in the film.
“In this film I am villain. The truth is hero of 2.0 is not Rajinikanth but Akshay Kumar. If I was given a choice I would have taken that character. Hats off to Akshay, he has worked so hard,” Rajinikanth told reporters at the teaser launch of 2.0.


Akshay who was present at the teaser launch interrupted saying, “I had no choice”. Director Shankar said my role will be difficult but I enjoyed it. The subject is very unique. I’m sure this film will reach the standards of Hollywood.”
“Its a brilliant role, character (of Akshay). The whole country will be proud of Akshay,” Rajnikanth said.
Meanwhile, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who was present at the teaser launch, praised Rajinikanth.
When asked about working with Salman, Rajinikanth said, “I would love to do a film with him if he is ready to sign a film with me. Tomorrow if Salman says yes I am ready to do it.” Helmed by S Shankar, the movie also stars Amy Jackson in the lead, will release next year.
