Booty worth lakhs stolen from MLA Aqeel’s relative’s house

Unidentified thieves sneaked into the locked house at covered campus in Indravihar Colony on Airport Road in Koh-E-Fiza area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and made away with Rs 1.10 lakh cash in new currency notes along with gold jewellery worth lakhs. The house owner, a relative of MLA Arif Aqeel, had gone to Aurangabad to attend a marriage along with family members and reported the matter to police after they returned house on Wednesday. Complainant Masood Shahid Kidwai, 68, a resident of E13/8 Indravihar Colony, in his complaint to police, stated that he owns a farm. His son Sharukh is posted in Jehanuma Palace Hotel.


He along with his family including wife, son and daughter-in-law went to attend a marriage at Aurangabad on December 23. His neighbour Salimullah Khan, who resides in front of his house, informed him that the incident took place on the wee hours of Sunday. He had given the keys of house to Salimullah for taking care of house. Three unidentified men barged into their house through the front door with an intention to burgle the house. In the meantime Salimullah heard noises and saw that the light of porch which he had switched on was off. He immediately rushed to the spot and saw three men escaping from the house. He along with other members of colony nabbed one of the accused. The accused managed to take Rs 1.10 lakh cash in new currency notes along with one gold necklace, 2 pair of earrings, three nose pins and a gold biscuit. Later, police on his complaint registered a case on charges of theft against the two unidentified accused and launched a manhunt to nab them.
