BJP wins Bhilai-Charoda, Sarangarh civic polls

THE people of Bhilai-3 Charoda Municipal Corporation and Sarangarh Municipality have helped BJP repeat the feat of victory it achieved in local body elections held in Chandigarh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. In Bhilai-3 Charoda Municipal Corporation election Chandrakanta Mandle of the BJP defeated her nearest rival Jyoti Banjare of the Congress by a margin of 4922 votes. Chandrakanta Mandle secured 27,184 votes as against 22,262 by Jyoti Banjare. Mandle thus has become the first Mayor of the newly constituted Bhilai-Charoda Municipal Corporation (BCMC).
It may also be mentioned that as many as 693 voters opted for NOTA for mayoral candidate. Out of the 40 seats of Ward Corporators, the BJP managed to win in 16 seats and Congress won 13 seats while
11 independents have also made it to the Corporation.
BJP candidate was leading from the very first round itself. In the first round she managed to take a lead of over 2000 votes and she maintained the lead in every round till the final fifth round and after the counting of the votes her margin of victory was 4,922 votes.
The defeat of the Congress candidate has been a big set back for the CPCC President, Bhupesh Baghel as Bhilai-Charoda was part of his constituency.
Earlier, at the counting center, Dr Khubchand Baghel Mahavidyalaya, Bhilai-3 the strong room was opened at 7.00 am and after arrangements the counting commenced from 9.00 am in all the 5 rooms earmarked for the counting. In one table one counting supervisor and two assistants completed the process of counting.
Talking to the newspaper, the jubilant winner Chandrakanta Mandle pointed that her victory is people’s victory specially the youths and the hard work of the party workers. She said that the convincing victory of BJP should be construed as the genuine public support for demonetization initiated by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. she announced as part of her election manifesto. After the victory the BJP took out a procession to say their gratitude to the electorates.
In Saranagarh Municipal Council, Amit Agrawal the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the post of President, also registered a convincing win by defeating his nearest rival Congress candidate Suraj Tiwari by a margin of 1096 votes. While Amit Agrawal polled 6219 votes, Suraj Tiwari managed to poll 5123 votes in his support. Of the 15 wards in Sarangarh Municipal Council, BJP registered victory in 8 while Congress registered win in five. Independent (IND) candidates also won two seats.
Extending his gratitude to the extensive public support for the party candidates, Kaushik thanked and congratulated Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, Amar Agrawal, National General Secretary Saroj Pandey, Revenue Minister Prem Prakash Pandey, BJP General Secretary (Organization) Pawan Sai, BJP State Spokesperson Shivratan Sharma, BJP Cell In charge Rampratap Singh for the impressive win in civic bodies election. He said the developmental works undertaken by the Chief Minister during his 13 years tenure has resulted in the victory of the party.
