Doctors Girish Bodhare and Pranita Rode both Post graduate students in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Implantology, VSPM Dental College and Research Centre secured second position in the prestigious ‘Annual Essay Competition’ at the recently held International College of Dentists Annual Convocation.
The Convocation was hosted by Tagore Dental College and Hospital, Chennai and was attended by the Dental professionals from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The topic for the essay competition was ‘Concierge Vs Corporate Dentistry’, which is a very relevant topic in todays scenario for General Dentistry. They opined that, regardless of the particular type of setting (Corporate or Concierge) in which they practice, all the clinicians need to hold utmost quality and outcomes of the care that they provide. A dentist's professional has to follow the ethical obligations scrupulously and implement them in the patient's best interests. All this has to be practiced leaving aside the clinicians self interest which is naturally and unconditionally taken care of in some or the other form. They also stressed on the responsibility for clinical decisions and ethical conduct of the dental professionals regardless of who accepts the responsibility for business decisions and should work commemoratively to prevent the conversion of Dentistry in to Dental Industry.
Awardees were congratulated and appreciated by Dr S M Balaji President and Dr Rajiv Chug, Secretary General, ICD, India, Sri Lanka & Nepal Section.
Students acknowledged the consummate guidance of Dr Abhay Kolte, Dr Rajashri Kolte from the department, thanked Dr Usha Radke, Dean and Dr S R Shenoi, Vice-Dean of the VSPM Dental College and Research Centre for encouraging and supporting for all curricular and extracurricular activities.
