The members of the delegation informed that at the river bank and around some people have illegally encroached the land and have started their business. The illegal encroachment by group of miscreants has proved troublesome for devotees who are circumscribed in the river bank and are unable to perform rituals and to take holy dip in the sacred river.
The members informed that soon after dusk, the river bank and its surrounding areas become safe haven for large number of anti-social element and addicts who openly indulge in unlawful activities. Shocking part of the situation is that though the shops operational across the river bank are illegal the Market Department collects charges from these errant shop owners. The bus stand at Gwarighat made for parking of buses and other vehicles has been encroached by vegetable vendors. In absence of adequate parking space vehicles are parked at random obstructing traffic in the area. Also the Rainbasera constructed at bus stand for needy is in custody of anti-social elements.
