RGPV yet to get new VC

The Governor assured to announce the name of new Vice Chancellor soon. Sources said, Governor will take two-three months more to finalise the VC
Wait for new Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidalaya (RGPV) still continues. Applicants are leaving no stone unturned to get their name shortlisted.
To maintain the academics in university, Governor has issued order to Kalpana Srivastav, the Principal Secretary Technical Education and Skill Development to accomplish the activities of Vice Chancellor. The Governor assured to announce the name of new Vice Chancellor soon. Sources said, Governor will take two-three months more to finalise the VC. Candidates, who applied for the post, are making all efforts to get success.
According to sources, Dr Sunil Kumar Gupta, Upper Secretary at Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), is having strong resume for the post. R K Jain, Principal, Samrat Ashok Technical Institute (SATI) Vidisha and V K Kande are also strong candidates for the post. Earlier, Barkatullah University Vice Chancellor M D Tiwari and MANIT director in-charge N S Chaudhary were strong candidates in the list. All these candidates are contacting State ministers and even student organisations to get their name in final list.
Piyush Trivedi recently retired from the service. There was planning to announce the name of new VC for the university on December 28, 2016. Professor Piyush Trivedi served RGPV as Vice Chancellor for eight years. During his service period, Professor Trivedi remained in controversy for several reasons. However, he is satisfied with the service and wants to spend time with family and poor people in rural areas. He was appointed as Vice Chancellor of RGPV during July 2008. On December 27, 2012, Government revised his working duration considering his impressive records and re-appointed him as Vice Chancellor.
In order to find out new Vice Chancellor for RGPV, a three-member committee comprising Dr I S Chauhan, former Vice Chancellor Barkatullah University, Professor P S Sonade, former Vice Chancellor Goa University (Panaji) and Dr Rabi B Grover, director Homi Bhabha National Institute Mumbai was appointed. The committee has scrutinised all the 70 applications and shortlisted three candidates. Names of the three shortlisted candidates have been sent to the Governor for final appointment.
