RAIPUR,

Jan 10,

DESPITE first early morning sporadic rainfall of this winter, the daylong sunshine restored prevailing above normal conditions in Raipur city on Tuesday.
People were overjoyed and virtually longed for wintry conditions to give a boost to the sluggish beginning of the week. But, disappearance of clouds followed with sunshine ended the cool beginning.

Though, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh received rainfall, the minimum temperature increased in all divisions of the State. Raipur and Bilaspur division recorded above normal temperature while in Bastar division it was normal. Weatherman has predicted of minimum temperature will dip by 2/3 degree Celsius under the influence of cold Northerly winds blowing to Central India covering Chhattisgarh during next 48 hours. However, Rajnandgaon was the coldest with 11 degree Celsius while Bhilai and Jagdalpur recorded highest maximum temperature of 26.5 degrees across the State on Tuesday.

Assistant Meteorologist of Meteorological Center Raipur N S Mehta informed that the Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation persisting over Chhattisgarh and its neighbouring areas has moved away and become weaker on Tuesday. Under the influence of the existing weather, cold wave like conditions would develop in North Chhattisgarh and moderate to medium fog is expected at some places in the State on January 11, he added.

Mehta further said that Raipur may witness misty and foggy conditions on Wednesday. But, it will depend on the movement of the wind. If the wind is calm foggy weather will prevail and windy conditions will be a deterrent for the misty as well as foggy conditions.

On state-wide forecast, Met Center stated the weather is expected to be dry across the State on January 11. Sky would be clear with minimum temperature expected around 13 degree Celsius in Raipur. There is a warning of cold wave like conditions at some places in North Chhattisgarh.

In the India Meteorological Department evening bulletin on Tuesday, the minimum temperature is very likely to fall by 2/3 degrees over MP and Chhattisgarh during next two days (upto 6.30pm of January 12).
