Over 25,000 persons participate in ‘Chakka Jaam’ agitation

Protagonists of separate Vidarbha state under the banner of Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti staged ‘Chakka Jaam’ agitation at 85 places in Vidarbha region. Over 25,000 persons participated in the agitation in support of the demand of separate Vidarbha.
The workers after blocking the roads for two to three hours were detained by the police and later released in the evening. This is the first successful phase of the agitation, which has indicates feeling of the people of the region.
The leaders raised the issues of loan waiver for farmers, waiving electric bills, adequate price for agriculture produce on the basis of input cost plus 50% profit. The BJP government in the State and Centre have failed to fulfill the assurances on these issues. The farmers and businessmen in rural areas are facing serious problems. They condemned the government for delay in fulfilling their promises, made during election campaign. The people supported them and now feel cheated.
The agitation was staged in all 11 districts of Vidarbha. Nagpur District - Nagpur, Kamleshwar, Sonoli, Patansavangi, Butibori, Mouda, Kamptee, Kanhan and Ramtek. Amravati - Badnera, Anjangaon Surji, Warud. Gondia - Amgaon, Tiroda. Bhandara - Shahpur, Bhandara, Lakhni, Sakoli, Paoni. Gadchiroli - Sironcha, Aheri, Alapalli, Ashti, Yenapur, Chamorshi, Gadchiroli, Armori, Kondhali, Wadsa, Kurkheda, Purada, Ghot, Porla. Chandrapur - Kadholi, Korpana, Rajura, Brahmapuri, Nagbhid, Mul, warora, Bhadrawati, Pombhurna, Tembhurdi phata, Jambhulghat phata, Gondpipri. Wardha - Jam phata, Seldoh, Sirpur (Deoli). Buldana - Meta phata, Mehkar, Eklara, Dhad, Pet, Malkapur, Tembhurna phata Khamgaon. Akola - Murtijapur, Deori phata, Borgaon Manju, Wadhegaon. Yavatmal - Wani, Wadki, Kalamb, Yavatmal, Umarkhed, Jodma, Pandharkawda and even in some small villages.
In Nagpur, the workers staged demonstrations in front of ST Stand gate.
The buses could not move for over one hour, after which police detained the workers and later released.
