Staff Reporter,

Again, a junior doctor at city’s biggest Government Hamidia Hospital was beaten up by a patient’s attendants on Sunday, alleging carelessness in treatment. Police post was established by the police department on request of Medical Education officers about four days ago. The junior doctors filed an FIR with Koh-e-Fiza police thana, demanding arrest of the alleged people, who beat Dr Mohit.

However, the junior doctors have not yet taken any decision of protest or strike on this issue, but they will talk to the senior officers of the Hamidia Hospital, Gandhi Medical College and Medical Education officers, on Monday. According to information, Abhishek had problems in his legs and hands after he met with an accident. When he reached Dr Mohit, there was some heated exchange of words between Dr Mohit and attendants of patient Abhishek. Later, some attendants beat Dr Mohit.

This caused resentment among the junior doctors and other staffers of Hamidia Hospital. There were a number of attendants with the patient so three police personnel found them insufficient to control patient’s attendants beating junior doctor. When contacted, Dr Tanmay Shah, President, Gandhi Medical College, said the attendants of patient Abhishek after heated argument, beat Dr Mohit at Hamidia Hospital. We have filed a FIR against the attendants of Abhishek at Koh-e-Fiza police thana. Police post was not sufficient to control such incidents, he said.
