Woman killed after rashly driven dumper hits bike

Deceased woman was identified as Shanti Bai, 50, wife of Kaluram, a resident of Purani Basti in Bagsewania area
A 50-year-old woman died after the bike she was travelling on along with her son was hit by a rashly driven dumper at Suraj Nagar under Ratibad police station on Sunday.
Deceased’s son, who was riding the bike, escaped with injuries in the road accident.
According to police, deceased woman was identified as Shanti Bai, 50, wife of Kaluram, a resident of Purani Basti in Bagsewania area. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, when she, along with her son Parshuram (25), was on her way to a relative’s house at Jhagariya near Bilkisganj.
At a turn near Suraj Nagar in Ratibad, their bike was hit by speeding dumper (MP04GA5163) in a bid to overtake their two-wheeler. The woman fell on the road and sustained multiple injuries on her head resulting in her spot death while her son Parshuram escaped with minor injuries.
Following the road mishap, errant dumper driver fled from the spot along with killer vehicle, who was cordoned off by the police from Neelbad area and dumper was seized. The accused was identified as Govind Verma (28), a resident of Ayodhya Nagar area.
Subsequently, a case under Section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused driver, while body of deceased woman has been sent to mortuary of Hamidia Hospital for post-mortem examination.
