Two policemen injured in stone pelting as mob goes furious over teen’s death

TWO policemen sustained grievous injuries, while a Station House Officer (SHO) was also injured in the stone pelting by unruly mob, after the police recovered the body of a teenager in suspicious circumstances at Hathkhoj, Bhilai-3 on Monday noon. The condition of one among two policemen was stated to be critical at the hospital.


The police officials and personnel fled the spot after the mob turned menacingly hostile, and finally, the situation was brought under control, only when the anti-demonstration squads reached at the spot.
Police sources informed that the deceased, whose body was recovered in suspicious circumstances, was identified as Kamlesh Yadav (18), son of Bhuneshwar Yadav, a resident of Indira Nagar, Hathkhoj, Bhilai-3. The police said that on Monday morning, the body of Kamlesh Yadav was found lying under the fuse-box of an electrical transformer in Indira Nagar, Hathkhoj, Bhilai-3. There were the apparent injury marks on head of the body of Kamlesh Yadav and burn injury marks, apparently caused due to electric current on fingers, also and back of the body. When informed, the police reached the spot and took the body into custody after preparing an inquest of the incident. In the course of investigation in the matter, the police recorded the unnatural death and sent the body for autopsy. As per preliminary investigation so far in the case, according to the family
members, at about 11:30 pm on Sunday, Kamlesh Yadav had left home for sleeping at his friend’s house, and later on next day his body was recovered.


Since, the body of Kamlesh Yadav was recovered in suspicious circumstances, tension prevailed in the whole area, and at about 12:30 pm on Monday and the agitated residents resorted to stage the road blockade at Hathkhoj-Umda road in Bhilai-3, leading to long queues of heavy vehicles at both sides of the road. The sources said that the mob turned berserk when the police resorted to mild cane charge for clearing road the blockade for stranded vehicular traffic at the location. The agitated mob chased the police officials and personnel and thrashed them severely. While fleeing the spot, Hiraman Ramtake, Head Constable, Bhilai-3 Police Station ran away from the area and hid in the guard-room of a chemical company, but the agitated residents reached there and assaulted him with lathis while inflicting serious head injuries upon him. His colleague, Head Constable Rajesh Sahu was also seriously injured when attacked by the mob. K K Vasnik, SHO, Khursipar Police Station was injured when a brick was pelted at him by the mob. After the situation was brought under control, the seriously injured policemen were shifted to JLN Hospital, Bhilai-3, where the condition of Hiraman Ramteke was stated to be critical.


When contacted, Rajesh Agrawal, ASP (City) informed that the body of deceased teenager was sent for autopsy, while report was awaited and the police were also further investigating the matter, but in the meantime the residents turned menacingly hostile. He also added that the police were further investigating the matter and the justice in the case of deceased teenager would be meted out.


He also added that the police were also investigating in the case in which on duty police officials and personnel were attacked by agitated people while causing them serious injuries.
