CAs are leaders of change: Prafull Chhajed

The entire world has passed stage of fast changing world and it is now going into dynamic volatility due to technology and way of doing business. Chartered accountant fraternity is also expected to play a role of more as advisory consultant than auditor and post-mortem tax consultant, said CA Prafull Chhajed, Central Council Member of ICAI and Chairman of Professional Development Committee of ICAI, in a mega conference on professional development and opportunities titled as ‘Exploring new horizons’.


He underlined the need for changing the mindset of as professionals as with the advent of technology and recent demonetisation, the scope for tax compliance practice as well as audit services would reduce
drastically.


He called upon the participants that with changing scenario, the business world is looking at CAs as business advisors and consultants. He also updated the participant members about various initiatives taken by the ICAI at national-level for the benefit of members and resolving their various issues.


CA Abhijit Kelkar, Regional Council Member (RCM) congratulated the Nagpur Branch for organising a conference on non-traditional topics of professional interest to lead the profession towards a new horizon. He also expressed gratitude towards all the renowned speakers for agreeing to come to Nagpur for sharing their professional expertise on varied topics.


CA Swapnil Ghate, Chairman of Nagpur Branch welcomed all the participants at the seminar. Inaugural session was co-ordinated by CA Suren Duragkar and CA Umang Agrawal, Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
CA Vinit Deo from Pune shed light on ‘Real Estate Regulation Act,’ CA G B Modi from Dhule shed light on ‘Maharashtra Government subsidy schemes and professional opportunities for CAs,’ Rakesh Sehgal, Director of Professional Development Committee, ICAI, New Delhi spoke on ‘Various overseas MoUs entered by ICAI,’ CA Deepak Ghaisas from Mumbai spoke on ‘Start Up India – Make in India,’ CA Ramesh Prabhu from Mumbai spoke on ‘Emerging opportunities in co-operative sector,’ advocate Souvik Ganguly from Mumbai spoke on ‘Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code: Law and opportunities’.


Also speakers from Nagpur were CA Samir Bakre who spoke on ‘Innovative sources of financing,’ CA Yogesh Kabra on ‘Brief overview of credit rating process and professional opportunities,’ CA Nitin Alshi on ‘Business advisory services: Smalll and Medium Enterprise perspective,’ CA Abhijit Kelkar on ‘Digital economy– Change is inevitable.’ Prominently present on the occasion were CA Jaydeep Shah, CA L B Hajare, CA Sudhir Surana, CA Harish Waghela, CA Kapil Bahri, CA Harish Bhoneja, CA Ninad Nandgaokar and over 200 chartered accountants.
