Various bodies, political parties pay tributes to Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule on birth anniversary

A large number of organisations, political parties and citizens of the city paid tributes to Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary on Tuesdy. The reports of various programmes held on the occasion have continued to pur in.

BJP OBC Morcha
Former Mayor Archana Dehankar led the workers of Bharatiya Janata Party OBC Morcha and paid tributes at Savitribai’s statue in Gandhi Sagar Garden. City Unit President of the organisation Nanabhau Umathe and Pratibha Vairagade were the guests.
The speakers appealed to the people to follow the thoughts of Savitribai. Women should achieve development by deriving inspiration from determination with which she worked.
Omkareshwar Gurav conducted the proceedings. Dr Pooja Dhande proposed a vote of thanks.

Castribe Karmachari Mahasangh
President of castribe Karmachari Mahasangh Krishna Ingle said that teacher like Savitribai is still needed for the Indian society. He spoke about the life and work of the social reformer.
Satyadev Ramteke, Dr Balasaheb Bansod, Dr Subhash Gaikwad, Milind Ramteke and others were present.

National Federation of Indian Women
With the resolution of completing Savitribai’s work and taking her thoughts to every individual, the members of NFIW paid tributes to Savitribai at her statue in Gandhi Sagar Garden. The organisation welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to put ban on seeking votes in the name of religion or caste. Discontent over demonetisation was also expresed because of difficulties faced by women in performing daily transactions.
Social worker from Yavatmal Nanaji Ukey, CPI leader Ajay Sahu, social worker from Paoni Kamlibai Chaudhari, Geeta Mahajan, Ranjana Kale, Chanda Aprajit, Meena Deshpande, Sangita Mahajan were prominent among those present.

Mahila Sanskruti Sanghatna

Nandini Bhonde, Convenor of State unit of Mahila Sanskruti Sanghatna spoke about free and uniform education to all, to fulfil dreams of Savitribai. She was speaking during a programme organised at Mogalyayan Buddha Vihar, Pandhrabodi.
Rajendra Gangotri spoke about present social and political situation to emphasise the need for following Savitribai’s thoughts.
N L Savarkar, Dhanraj Dhadkat, A K Ghosh also expressed their views. Kusum Shambharkar presented a poem. Nandu Dhawral conducted the proceedings. Premchand Mogre proposed a vote of thanks.

Bharatiya Republican Parishad
City Unit President of the women’s wing of the organisation Shakuntala Kamble paid floral tributes and spoke about education of women, particularly from economically weaker sections. City Unit Presient Asangh Ramteke had submitted a letter to the Chief Minister devendra Fadnavis and Mayor Pravin Datke demanding beautification of premises of statues of Savitribai and Jyotiba Phule.
Suresh Pantaone also expressed his views.
