Mannam Jayanti celebrated with fervour

BHOPAL Nair Samaj celebrated Mannam Jayanti, the 140th birthday of its founder father Bharat Kesari Padmabhushan Mannanth Padmanabhan at Mannam Bhawan, Khajurikalan road , Piplani on the other day .The function was inaugurated by Archana Chitnis, Cabinet Minister Women and Child Welfare , MP Government. During her address she lauded the social reformer Mannath Padmanabhan for his work in the society for the eradication of injustice 100 years ago, Mannath Padmanabhan for his work in the society for the eradication of social injustice 100 years ago. Mannathu Padmanabhan was a social reformer and a freedom fighter of Kerala, India. He is recognised as the founder of the Nair Service Society, which claims to represent the Nair community that constitutes almost 14.5% of the population of State. Padmanabhan is considered as a visionary reformer who organised the Nair community under the NSS. He fought for social equality, the first phase of being the Vaikom Satyagraha, demanding the public roads near the temple at Vaikom be opened to low caste Hindus. In 1924, he took part in the Vaikom and Guruvayoor temple-entry and anti-untouchability agitation. She also praised the role of Nairs in shaping the future of Kerala and the country. G Pradeep, President Bhopal Nair Samaj Ag Vallabhan, General Secretary BNS Socialitie Dr SA Pilai, Prabhakaran Pillai, Vice President BNS were present .The programme was followed by various cultural events conducts by the cultural, ladies and youth wing .
