Quarterfinal matches were played in the ongoing 38th All India Railway Women’s Hockey Tournament on Thursday.
In the pool A, the teams of Western Railway and South Eastern Railway, Kolkata and in Pool B the teams of RCF Kapurthala and Central Railway Mumbai have qualified for the semi-finals.


The tournament is being organised under the banner of West Central Railway under the direction of General Manager Girish Pillai at Sports Authority of India, Goregaon, Bhopal. First match of the day was played between Northern Railway, New Delhi, and Western Railway, Mumbai. In the exciting game Western Railway registered win by 4-2 goals.
From Western Railway, Anupama Barala scored three goals while Manjeet Kaur hit one. From Northern Railways, team played attacking hockey to score equalisers in second half of the match. In this game its star players Poonam Rani and Monica Dahia scored a goal each. In second match, North Central Railway, Allahabad, faced defeat at the hands of RCF Kapurthala by two goals.


For RCF Kapurthala, its defence line worked hard by nullifying the attempts and moves made by opponent team. In process RCF forward Anuradha Devi and Navjot Kaur scored one goal each to bring victory by 2-0.


In third match of the day Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur and Central Railway Mumbai played an exciting match. In this game Central Railway Mumbai defeated opponent by 3-1 goals. Its Vandana Kataria scored two goals and Saundrya registered one goal. In the dying minutes of the game for North Eastern Railway its start player Reena registered a single goal.


With three matches the Western Railway Mumbai and South Eastern Railway, Kolkata in Pool A and in Pool B the team of RCF Kapurthala and Central Railway Mumbai teams have qualified for the semi-finals.


In the matches played on Thursday, Mahesh Kumar, Tournament Director, Dheeraj Vagh, Tabrez Sher Khan, Shahid Beg, Pankaj Tyagi, Vijay Panchal, Nishant Jyoti, BV Ratnakar, Indra Pal Singh, Sweti Sahi, Renu Bala, Vilma, Happy, Sangeeta and others were officials. The tournament is being organised under the Direction of Madhu Yadav, Senior Sports Officer, WCR.
