Four new consultants join BMHRC; staff recruitment rules ready

In order to bring services of Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC), established for Bhopal gas victims and their family members about two decades ago, four new consultants were appointed. They have joined on Saturday. There was shortage of consultants and due to which the patients had suffered a lot. These four consultants are senior consultants (Medical) selected in interviews held recently by the BMHRC on behest of Health and Research Department, Government of India to cope up shortage of doctors.
According to official information, of these four senior consultants, two are as Dr Sandeep Prajapati and Dr Smita Chohna will work in Transfusion Medicine Department. While Dr Jitendra Kumar will work in Anesthesia Department. Senior officers in Health Ministry, Government of India, have assured BMHRC management to appoint some more junior residents doctors to have adequate medicos in hospital.
Professor Dr Rajni Chaterjee, who retired from BMHRC a few months ago, has been asked to work as senior consultant professor in Psychology Department. After her retirement, the Psychology Department in BMHC was facing shortage of senior doctors. There were more patients of mental health reach to this hospital for treatment.
On the other hand, the BMHRC officially informed that the long pending demand of the medicos and non-medicos was recruitment rules and regulations so that their seniority might be fixed and they could get benefit of seniority. The Department of Health and Research (DHR) has uploaded service rules and regulations for medicos and non-medicos on its website.
It is uploaded on website so that the doctors and other staff can check their seniority.
