Fun-tastic mood marks BVM Civil Line’s ‘Bal Mela’

On the bright and chilly morning, the zeal and zest reached its zenith as the Bal Mela at Bhavan’s B P Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, had spell bound the youth and old alike. The annual mega fest, was a huge hit. The smiles, laughter, colours, joy, enthusiasm, music and aroma of delicious food was spread around and created a fun-tastic mood. This much awaited funfilled event was inaugurated at the hands of Sachin Kurve, Collector and District Magistrate. Prominently present on the occasion were Dr Sunanda Sonarikar, Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra; K M Agrawal, Treasurer, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra, Executive Committee Members – Dr A K Mukherjee, Prof Q H Jeevaji, Rajendra Purohit, Rakesh Purohit, Padmini Jog, A Shastri, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra, T L Raja, Joint Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra; Yash Verma, Parent Representative.


The chief guest and the dignitaries motivated the students by playing games at the different game stalls and enjoyed the delicacies at the food stalls. The main objective of the mela is the overall development of the students and to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills. The students learn various skills like organisation, production, advertising, sellingproducts and team spirit.


Under the able guidance and supervision of Principal Anju Bhutani, 37 stalls were put up which included tempting desserts, exotic food stalls, beverages, funfilled games, the Pustak Bharati and the House of madness, the DJ Dance stall. The cynosure of the mela was ‘The Toy Train’ in the portico area that tempted the kids to take ajoy ride.


The foodies enjoyed the chat corner, chocolate fountain, sandwiches and all the other Indian and Continental dishes. The Gameaholics were attracted to play the games like spin the wheel, floating ball, testy our patience, football and other gaming zones where they tried their luck and the games of their choice.


This mega mela was well managed by the students of Standard X and closely monitored by the class teachers Seema Altaf, Yogini Barahate, Rekha Moghe, Meena Salodkar and Asmita Mahajan. Uma Durairajan and Seema Altaf ably managed the announcers box.
