Three vehicle-lifters held, 19 bikes worth Rs 8 lakh seized

In a major breakthrough, three bike-lifters of inter-state vehicle-lifters’ gang have been arrested by Gautam Nagar and Jehangirabad police station respectively and 19 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 8 lakh have been recovered from their possession. Out of the three arrested, two were nabbed by Gautam Nagar police and 14 bikes worth Rs 5 lakh were seized from them whereas one such accused was held by Jehangirabad police and 5 two-wheelers worth Rs 3 lakh were recovered from him.
Speaking to mediapersons, SP (North) Arvind Saxena said that two miscreants nabbed by Gautam Nagar were identified as Nanhe alias Iqbal, 36, resident of Rajiv Colony, Nishatpura, and Deepak Panthi, 19, Atal Ayub Nagar of Gautam Nagar.
Both were habitual drinker and developed friendship around 6 months ago at a wine shop near DIG Bungalow. Accused used to target marriage ceremony and used to lift bikes after which they dump these stolen vehicles at parking lots at malls at bus stands. Three bikes which they parked in parking lots were also stolen by someone.
On January 5, police, acting on a tip-off, that a youth was standing with a stolen TVS bike near Prem Nagar railway crossing, a team of Gautam Nagar arrested him and he introduced himself as Nanhe Khan, who admitted to lift bikes with his accomplice Deeak alias Jhakora. Nanhe told the police that he dumped 6 stolen bikes at residence of Deepak which were seized by police while remaining bikes were recovered from Nanhe’s residence and parking of a mall.
They told police that they were deserted by family members owing to their bad habit of liquor after which they started lifting vehicles to fulfill their habit.
They were trying to get fake documents to sell these stolen bikes. Similarly, Jehangirabad police have arrested a youth identified as Ayaz Khan, 23, a resident of Ghoda Nakkas area in Hanumanganj. His arrest was made during vehicle checking drive when he tried to flee from the spot looking after police checking. Based on the details provided by him, police recovered five stolen bikes worth Rs 3 lakh from his possession. The accused was presented in the court.
