Police raid over 35 spa centres of city

After the recent incident of Bhilai in which a Thai girl who was in tourist VISA died under mysterious circumstances, city police have started massive hunt to trace out similar cases in city. On Sunday afternoon police conducted a raid in over 35 Spa centres of city between 2 pm and 4 pm. Under the leadership of Versa Mehar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Investigation Units on Crime Against Women (IUCAW) the surprise raids were conducted. CSP Civil Lines, Station House Officer Purnima Lamba, Sandhya Dwivedi, Manjulata Rathore, Yogita Khaparde, Meena Sahu, Mahila Police Station incharge, Five sub inspector, Women staff, Patrolling staff were in the team.


During the drive raids were conducted in SPA at Ambuja Mall, The Thai Spa, La Thai Spa, Lavsa Spa, Magneto Mall Aura Spa centre, Natures Hub Spa centre, Shyam Plaza Leisure spa centre, Nature beauty spa centre, City Centre Mall A La Pearl Thai Spa, Universe the spa, Devendra Nagar, Shankar Nagar, Avanti Vihar, Katora Talab and other areas in which over 35 SPA centres were raided. Notice under Section 91 Code of Criminal Procedure Act was served and list of staff, pay roll, passport/VISA related documents for the foreigner staff, and Business Licence, etc were sought.


In eight places 29 girls of Thailand were found working in Spa centers, 21 girls were from North Eastern area and 15 local girls were found on jobs. In case of violation of terms and condition, letters were issued to competent authorities. Police is further investigating the matter.
