Sloganeering in favour of various leaders irks State Congress incharge Deepak Babaria

Three proposals passed in meetings chaired by Babaria

The newly-appointed State incharge of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Deepak Babaria came to Bhopal on Monday by train. Battery of leaders and workers reached railway station to receive him and an untold race was seen among them to get close to Babaria and took him in their vehicle till PCC Headquarters. Later, sloganeering of Congress workers in favour of their leaders also irked Babaria.

Congress workers were seen raising slogans in favour of Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijay Singh, Arun Yadav etc. However, Babaria tried to stop them from doing so but to no avail. The issue of Congress workers raising slogans of their leaders while welcoming Babaria also surfaced in meeting chaired by Babaria along with senior party leaders at Congress headquarters. This meeting was done to chalk out roadmap of party’s future strategy.

Along with this, Babaria also took feedback from district presidents and party spokespersons. In meeting presided over by Babaria, three proposals were passed unanimously.
Talking on condition of anonymity, former minister and a senior Congress MLA told ‘The Hitavada’ that first proposal was to elicit support for anointment of Rahul Gandhi as party’s National President. Second proposal to leave the decision of appointing new State CongressPresident on Sonia Gandhi.

The third proposal said Congress is committed for organisational unity and party stands united in its struggle. Likewise, Congress workers, who are not satisfied with ongoing election process, put up their strong reservations regarding election process before Babaria. They alleged that favouritism has been done in appointing the PCC delegates and Block Returning Officers (BROs). In his address, Babaria stressed the need to work with co-ordination and solicited help from all leaders for his new assignment given by Sonia Gandhi. He emphasised to constitute ‘Mandalam’ to connect ground-level workers.

Moreover, he was candid enough to tell that importance should not be given to those who spoil the party image and not to compromise with such elements. He added that assembly elections are near hence party should do the movements to regain the lost ground in State. He also asked party workers to reach masses by preparing 30-day programme by the end of Indira Gandhi Shatabdi Samaroh.

On this occasion, AICC Secretaries Sanjay Kapoor and Zuber Khan, State Congress President Arun Yadav, Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh, additional state election officers namely Pradeep Tamta, Rajesh Mishra, Assistant Election Officer Jitendra Kansana, Kesar Ahmad, former minister Mahesh Joshi, Akandpratap Singh, K P Singh, Mahesh Joshi, ex-minister and MLA Balabachchan, former minister Raja Pateria, Pratap Bhanu Sharma etc were present.

Deepak Babaria remained at party office throughout the day and conducted parleys with party leaders and workers. He will be also hold meeting with Congress leaders on Tuesday as well.
