Swine flu positive girl succumbs at GMC

One swine flu positive girl undergoing treatment at Isolation ward died during morning hours on Tuesday. Condition of two patients, one swine flu positive, is critical and one suspect is undergoing treatment at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Government Medical College and Hospital.

Nodal Officer, Swine Flu, Dr Deepak Barkhade informed one girl aged about 20 years was admitted in serious condition about six days back. Her platelet was continuously decreasing inspite of Tamiflu and other anti-swine flu and emergency medicines being given to her. She was brought on the ventilator. “We had administered platelets, which was repeatedly decreasing. She succumbed during early morning hours on Tuesday.

He further informed that out of two patients, condition of swine flu positive patients is deteriorating, condition of one swine flu suspect patient is stable, he added. As per report from the District Nodal Officer, as many as 9 patients of district died while undergoing treatment at Government private hospitals recognized for treatment of swine flu in the district, including three from private recognised hospital. Out of this, three patients were from outside Jabalpur.

On other hand, large number of swine flu suspects increased at private hospital OPDs. Civil Surgeon, Government Victoria Hospital has asked individuals to take special care, while going to public places and hospital, where the chance of infection is high as compared to other places.

Doctors and medical staff have been advised that medical staff should wear protective H1N1 masks to ensure their safety from the virus attack. Superintendent, NSCB, Government Medical College and Hospital, Dr Rajesh Tiwari confirmed the death of one swine flu positive patient at Isolation ward of Government Medical College and Hospital. He said, swine flu is not a dreadful disease.

Usually, it is observed that patients come or referred from the other hospital when the medical condition of patients become critical. In the Isolation ward, we have three ventilators, which can be increased on demand. Emergency drugs like Hydrocortisone, Soda Bi Card, Adernaline, Atroipe and large number of other life saving medical equipment, needed to save life of other people are also available.
