Crackers making sound beyond 125 dB banned

Firecrackers making sound beyond 125 decibels (dB) have been banned in the State and Environment Minister Antar Singh Arya, extending greetings on Diwali, has appealed the citizens to use determined sound level firecrackers during festival of lights.


Minister Arya appealed that firecrackers’ waste should not be thrown near natural or drinking water source so that the water sources remain safe from pollution. Arya said that pieces of paper of waste of firecrackers pose threat to animals and children so such waste of crude gun powder should be thrown in proper dustbin. Minister Arya said that the smoke from firecrackers has adverse effect on environment and human beings and it also leads to sound pollution. According to notification of Union Environment & Forest Ministry, manufacturing and selling or use of firecrackers making sound beyond 125dB or 145dB(c) will be banned completely. Burning of firecrackers will also be banned from 10 pm to 6 am.
