Jal Mahotsav 2017 all set to start on Oct 15 at Hanuwantiya

Jal Mahotsav 2017 is all set to be inaugurated on October 15 at Hanuwantiya, Indira Sagar dam. The inaugural ceremony will be organised at 5 pm. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in the presence of State Tourism Minister Surendra Patwa and Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Tapan Bhowmik.


The third Jal Mahotsav will be held from October 15 to January 2, 2018. Jal Mahotsav’s new website www.jalmahotsav.com has also been started for the purpose of providing all kinds of information and activities to the tourist. Besides, special advertisement has also been released to promote Jal Mahotsav as a part of radio and TV campaign, which is getting good response. Around 115 tents will be provided to the tourists and all kinds of adventure sports activities will also be organised.


‘Jal Mahotsav’, conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism in the year 2016, was first of its kind adventure programme in the country. It was claimed by Tourism Department then that over 12 lakh people attended the event from across the country.


This year, ‘Jal Mahotsav’ will be conducted from October 15 to January 2, 2018 at Hanuwantiya, Indira Sagar dam on the Narmada River and preparations for the fest is almost over. Special focus is also been given to provide adequate facilities to the visitors and to overcome any adverse kind of climatic conditions during the festival. Situated about 150 km from Indore and 50 km from Khandwa, Hanuwantiya is all decked up to welcome tourists and the entire sports complex is decorated.

Various land and water adventure activities will be held on the opening day of the festival. As part of security measures, all activities at the complex will be monitored by drone-controlled aerial videography. In addition, an arrangement of battery-operated cars will also be made for the convenience of a large number of tourists like last year. Tourists from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Hyderabad, Tamilnadu and other places besides foreign countries are expected to reach Hanuvantiya. For tourists, the para motor ride, water para sailing, water jorbing and other activities are also arranged.
