Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s statement that had anyone seen women in Sangh Shakhas, Dr Vaidya said Rahul Gandhi should instead concentrate on his Congress party and do competition with BJP

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Bhopal has reacted strongly to Rahul Gandhi’s barb, which suggested discrimination of women in Sangh. Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS, Dr Manmohan Vaidya said actually speech writers of Rahul Gandhi do not know Sangh and its functioning.

Dr Manmohan Vaidya, while speaking to mediapersons at Sharda Vihar School premises, said Sangh works among men and focusses on ‘Vyakti Nirman’. Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s statement that had anyone seen women in Sangh Shakhas, Dr Vaidya said Rahul Gandhi should instead concentrate on his Congress party and do competition with BJP. Sangh cannot be compared with any party. Rahul Gandhi had made barb against Sangh during his Gujarat tour.

Making an indirect reference to former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he said “Rahul Gandhi’s grand mother and father tried to do unnecessary protest of Sangh but what happened…..Sangh is continuously expanding its base.”

He, however, said there are no women in Shakhas, but womenfolk directly or indirectly support Sangh. He also informed that after Vijayadashmi, the RSS chief had done discussion with intellectuals at more than 20 to 40 places over contemporary issues and it is a routine thing. He claimed that curiosity of people is increasing about Sangh and they are getting inclined to join the Sangh. He had called mediapersons to brief about the three-day meeting of Sangh starting from Thursday but entire attention got focussed on Rahul Gandhi’s statement.

Notably, three-day meeting of RSS’s Akhil Bhartiya Karyakari Mandal is starting at Sharda Vihar School in Kerwa. Around 300 ‘Pratinidhi’ from 11 regions and 42 ‘Prants’ will be attending this three-day meeting, which would be inaugurated by RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat. The ‘Prant Adhikari’ of Sangh will give report that how much expansion of Sangh has taken place. Senior RSS functionaries, including Bhaiyyaji Joshi will be attending the meeting, which is also likely to discuss the burning issue pertaining to Rohingya Muslims’ illegal migration into India and killing of RSS workers in Kerala.
