DPS Raipur swimmers clinch 8 Gold medals

CBSE Far East Zone Swimming C’ship held at Sheyn International School Tatanagar

Overwhelmingly dominant so far, Delhi Public School (DPS), Raipur’s ace swimmers were in for a reckoning yet again at the CBSE Far East Zone Swimming Championship, only to clinch 8 Gold, 1 Silver and 9 Bronze.

Out of 150 schools participating at Sheyn International School, Tatanagar, the school’s incredulous swimmers forged ahead of their rivals especially in Freestyle Relay and Medley Relay, giving a whiff of their agility and stamina. Those who have been felicitated with Gold are Deeva Sahni, Avi Katre, Kanika Nair and Shourya Singh.

These contestants closed in impressively on their opponents with their neat finish bagging 2 gold medals each. In addition to Gold, Deeva Sahni also won a Silver and a Bronze in the championship. Among the boys, the juggernauts worthy of praise were Anjenay Krishna, Gagan Wadhwa, Sashwat Trivedi and Kumar Lalwani, all of whom won 2 Bronze each. Talking about their experience, they thanked swimming teachers, Rakesh Katre and Sapna Jaiswal.

Prinicipal Raghunath Mukherjee acknowledged them saying, “Such tenacious performance creates challenging benchmarks for others to emulate. I am really proud of our charismatic sports faculty who constantly guides the students and give them a run for their prizes.”

Pro Vice-Chairman, Baldeo Singh Bhatia and Senior members of the management committee, Vijay Shah and Pukhraj Jain also extended their intrinsic congratulatory gesture.
