Arrested accused were involved in two loot incidents in Chola

Chola Mandir police have foiled a robbery plan and nabbed four accused from Maholi trisection late in the night on Wednesday. Earlier, accused had robbed Hemant Kumre of Rs 29,000 cash on October 3 near Bhanpur Bridge and also looted Rs 7,000 from a bank clerk Prashant Chitre on September 27. The police acted swiftly after receiving information of miscreants planning robbery at Gupta’s family home located in Tirupati Abhinav Homes and nabbed four miscreants while one managed to escape at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday.


Addressing mediapersons, DIG Santosh Kumar said that the nabbed accused were identified as Shadab Khan (21), Mohammad Saif (19), Sajid alias Chawanni (20) and Mumtaz Khan (21) while one of the accused Sarfaraz Khan, a resident of Kalyan Nagar, managed to escape.


All the accused are habitual criminals and have been booked for several crimes. Sarfaraz has been booked for 9 different crimes, Saif has been booked for one crime, Sajid was booked for robbery and Shadab has been booked for three crimes.


The police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two sharp-edged weapons, a torch, chilli powder, two bikes and Rs 27,600 cash from the arrested accused, DIG added. The police registered a case under sections 399 and 402 of the IPC and have started further investigation. Accused have been booked for robbery and theft with two victims were targeted at Bhanpur Bridge on October 3 and September 27 last month. In both the cases accused used the same trick to trap the victim. The accused would stop the victim and told him of hitting another vehicle injuring the rider and when the victim would offer money for the compensation they would escape with the wallet carrying cash.
