54th Foundation Day celebrations begin at JNAU

THE week-long celebration to celebrate 54th Foundation Day of Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University (JNAU) started at the university campus in a grand manner. JNAU was established on October 1, 1964, was inaugurated by the then Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The occasion featured presence of VC Professor Vijay Singh Tomar as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Tomar congratulated university staffers and said we feel highly content to celebrate Foundation Day of the university that has proved credential to its credit.

He said the university came into existence on October 1, 1964, and was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The university has distinction of being visited by Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, former President Praban Mukherjee, former PM Indra Kumar Gujral and many other highly esteemed personalities. He informed that the university has to its credit of having 1554 hectare mammoth land area.


Dr Dhirendra Khare, Director Research Services and Instructions, expatiated upon glorious five decade history of the university, he also made analysis of accomplishments made in the area of research services and instructions. He said during the green revolution, JNAU played an important role. We are recognised across the world as Soyabeen State and for past 10 years we are placed on number 1 spot in productive seeds. Scientists and officers from Agriculture Department from various states of the country undergo training on seed productivity.


Earlier in the function, statue of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru was garlanded on the occasion by host of eminents.
Top brass of university present were Dr P K Mishra, Dean Agriculture, Ashok Kumr Ingley Registrar, Anil Kesharwani Accounts Controller, Dr P K Bisen Director Extension Services Dr Sharad Tiwari Director Farms, Dr R K Nema Dean Agriculture Engineering, Dr Om Gupta Dean Agriculture College and Dr V K Pyasi Dean Students’ Welfare along with employees and students in large number were present. The function was organised by HOD Dr LPS Rajput, while a vote of thanks was proposed by Dean Agriculture Dr P K Mishra.
