International Senior Citizens’ Day celebrated in unique manner by BMC

The officials from Bhilai Municipal Corporation celebrated International Senior Citizens’ Day by felicitating the senior citizens above 60 years of age from Akashdeep Kusta Basti in Vaikunthadham. These senior citizens, who were being paid social security pension, were specially felicitated by presenting each among them a Shrifal and applying Tilak. The BMC officials, including Commissioner K.L.Chavan also relished meals with the assembled senior citizens While interacting with the seniors, Commissioner Chavan specifically appreciated the cleanliness maintained in the locality, and asked corporation staffers to distribute dustbins to all the residents.

The citizens assured Commissioner (BMC) that the cleanliness in their locality is already judiciously being maintained by themselves. Moreover, they also pointed that residents in their locality were not accustomed of defecating in open areas; and those resorting to it are promptly being reprimanded by the senior citizens from the locality.

Soon after, the BMC officials proceeded towards Vivekanand Kushtha Basti from Zone -4 under BMC and felicitated a large number of seniors. They also had meals in the company of assembled seniors. Apart from this, the BMC officials also visited the residences of seniors and felicitated them as the mark of respect and reverence towards them. The BMC officials specifically pointed that the locality where several leprosy patients are residing, is surprisingly appearing to be much more clean that other localities.

The residents from other localities should learn a lesson from the senior citizens residing at Vivekanand Kustha Basti, pointed BMC officials. They also felicitated several senior citizens from this locality.

The active participants in felicitation of senior citizens were: Corporater Chhote Lal Choudhari, Zonal Commissioner of BMC Sanjay Sharma, Health Officer, T.K.Randive Engineer R.K.Sahu, Akhilesh Chandrakar and others. The Public Relation Department of BMC also organized sports tournament, specifically for the assembled senior citizens, and also presented awards to the winners among them.
