Raipurians celebrate Dussehra with zeal

Calling upon the masses to collectively defeat the social ills like poverty, illiteracy, terrorism, Naxalism and filthiness/squalor, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh while propagating the values of Shri Ram said as Bhagawan Ram had defeated Ravana – symbol of evil, similarly it is necessary to remove these evils from the society, which further would pave way for emergence of new Chhattisgarh. Dr Singh said effigy of Ravana are burnt every year to mark the victory of good over evil but true evil is in our mind which we need to spill out. By spilling out the bad in our mentality, we collectively contribute towards the development of our society and state as well.


Addressing the massive gathering at the main Dussehra celebrations here at the capital in WRS Colony, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh extended his best wishes and greetings to one and all on the occasion of Dussehara and Vijay Dashami. He said there are very few places in the country where Dussehra is celebrated in such a grandeur way. Chhattisgarh being the maternal home of Lord Sri Ram, peace and tranquility prevail here and there is prosperity all around while the state is rapidly progressing in all fronts.


Present on the occasion were Veena Singh, Raipur MP Ramesh Bais, PWD Minister Rajesh Munat, MLAs Srichand Sundrani and Deojibhai Patel, CSIDC Chairman Chaggan Mundra, Raipur Municipal Corporation Speaker Praful Vishwakarma, DRM Raipur Division Rahul Gautam and scores of other public representatives.

The programme was conducted by PWD Minister Rajesh Munat. MP Ramesh Bais and PWD Minister Rajesh Munat also extended their best wishes and congratulations on the pious occasion of Vijaya Dashami to one and all. They also called upon the people to remain united come what may and urged the people to work together to remove such social evils.


The occasion was marked by the presence of 100 feet high effigy of Ravana along with 85 feet effigies each of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad at WRS ground. On the occasion, the epic Ramayana was projected through 3-D projection for the people. Messages and short-films on Swacch Bharata Abhiyaan were also shown through the projection. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh congratulated the organisers for the arrangements.

The Dussehra Utsav at WRS Colony was organized by jointly by WRS Sarvajanin Dussehra Utsav Committee and National Club WRS Colony. A massive display of musical and lighting fireworks by Babul Maula from Mumbai, mesmerised people during Dussehra celebration at WRS Colony ground.

Organizers in their value-added bid to add some more flavours to festivity teamed up with eminent play-back singers Aditya Narayan, Tanya Gupta and Asmit Singh who enthralled the people with their musical numbers. Dance Group from Red Foxx Entertainment, Kolkata also fascinated people with their performances.
