NMC should extend benefits of various schemes to slum-dwellers: Chetana Tank

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) should extend the benefits of various schemes to the slum dwellers, said Chetana Tank, Chairperson of Slum Rehabilitation, Improvement and Affordable Housing Committee in a meeting held recently.


The meeting was held at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall. Corporators Sunil Hiranwar, Durga Hattithele, Mangla Khekre, Rutika Meshram, Executive Engineers D D Jambhulkar, Ajay Pohekar, and Engineer Sunil Uike were present.


Chetana Tank inspected some of the projects of SRA. She met slum dwellers and directed authority to rectify their problems. She said, the time limit should be given to extend benefits of Prime Minister Affordable Housing Scheme. The Social Welfare Department should conduct a drive in the slums for creating awareness.


Ajay Pohekar, Chief of SRA gave information regarding SRA and Prime Minister Housing Scheme to the committee. He said, SRA has received 80,000 applications from the slum dwellers and the civic body will provide them houses till 2022. The SRA has given benefits to 748 persons under RAMAI scheme while 1,390 applications are pending for the nod.
