Staff Reporter,

TIGHTENING noose around those violating norms of Essential Commodities Act, the Court of District Magistrate has suspended license of Virmani Petrol Pump, Sadar, and forfeited its security on Wednesday. Owner of the fuel station also failed to ensure availability of approved design of dispensing unit as per explosive license.

For the first time in the history of the district, license of a filling station has been suspended due to short measurement. There are several incidents of short measurement reported in regular intervals in the district but most of the cases are settled without lodging any complaint. Suspending license of a filling station is a wake up call for other filling stations to maintain standard practices or be prepared to face stern action.

District Magistrate and Collector Mahesh Chandra Choudhary, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, has confirmed that hearing a case of short measurement of petroleum products and unavailability of approved design of dispensing unit reported in April 2017, license of Virmani Petrol Pump in Sadar has been suspended with immediate effect.
Security of Rs 10,000 deposited by the petrol pump owner has also been forfeited.

Civic Supply Department, Counsel, Sanjay Khare informed that a customer had registered a complaint with the department against short measurement of diesel at Modern Filling Station of Indian Oil Virmani Petrol Pump in Sadar.
Acting on the complaint, the District Magistrate had constituted a team comprising Junior Supply Officers Sanjeev Agrawal and Neelam Upadhhah.

The team conducted inspection of filling station in April 2017 and found short measurement of 30-mililitre in 5-litres petroleum product while dispensing unit was unavailable as per approved design under explosive license. The Civic Supply Department had registered a case under relevant sections of Madhya Pradesh Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel Oil Licensing and Control Order-1980 under Essential Commodities Act.
