Meet on ‘Nagpur - an emerging logistic centre’ on Oct 7

The Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED) is organising a logistics conference ‘Nagpur – an emerging logistics centre,’ on October 7, 2017 from 10 am to 6 pm at Hotel Le Meridien, Wardha Road. It is sponsored by Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., Western Coalfields Ltd and Distribution Logistics Infrastructure (DLI).


Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping has given consent to be the chief guest. The objective of organising the event is that Nagpur had been unable to grow as a logistics centre despite its natural geographic advantage and the excellent connectivity by rail, road and air due to close interstate boundaries. However, the time for Nagpur has arrived as GST has removed state boundaries and created a one-nation market for seamless movement of goods.


Shivkumar Rao, Vice-President of VED and Project Director of the conference said that logistics and manufacturing companies have shown their interest in creating infrastructure at Nagpur that can lead to the creation of such a logistics hub. Suitable policy initiatives by the State Government can convert this interest into actual investments that will make this logistics hub a reality.
