Narmada Mahotsav: Artists strike the right chord

THE 14th Narmada Mahotsav-2017 was inaugurated in a graceful ceremony on the eve of Sharad Poornima at Marble Valley, Bhedaghat on Wednesday. The two-day festival depicts significance of holy river Narmada while harmony of folk and classical dances and songs amidst magical effect of moonlit night left a memorable experience for spectators.
Audience were overwhelmed with melodious singing of Dr Soma Ghosh, while performance of flautists Debopriya and Suchismita enthralled one and all.


Besides this, artists of Music Drama Academy, New Delhi performed Rajasthani dance, while Suva Devi performed Kal Belia dance. Performance of local artists from Nritya Mruda Kala Kendra was also applauded by spectators.


Chief guest on the occasion was Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Sharad Jain, while Mayor Dr Swati Godbole presided over the programme, while MLA Anchal Sonkar, former Minister, Ajay Vishnoi, Shahpura Mandi, President, Neeraj Singh, Nagar Panchayat, Bhedaghat, President, Shaila Jain and others were specially present. Guests inaugurated the festival with worshipping holy river Narmada and lighting traditional lamps. Addressing the programme, Minister of State Sharad Jain termed Narmada Mahotsav as a milestone in promotion of tourism at Bhedaghat and district as well.

Tour of any guest in Jabalpur is incomplete without a visit to Bhedaghat. He informed about tourism promotional policies of the government and assured that Jabalpur will soon emerge as one of the leading tourist destinations in Central India. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Dr Swati Godbole applauded organisation of the event in a festive manner to attract tourists.

She informed about efforts being made for promotion of tourism on the part of Municipal Corporation.
On second day of the festival, world famed singers of Wadali Brothers will provide complete entertainment to visitors while Music Drama Academy, New Delhi’s Amrendra Rana and group will perform Bhangra.

Narmada Mahotsav is being organised under auspices of Jabalpur Tourism Promotion Council in association with district administration, Jila Panchayat, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat Bhedaghat. The event is being sponsored by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and Cultural Department of Madhya Pradesh Government.
