Satyarthi’s Bharat Yatra receives warm welcome

The Bharat Yatra launched by Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi received warm welcome by thousands of people from all walks of life, including students, civil society people and political leaders. The rally entered Bairagarh where thousands of children greeted the campaigners. The event was organised at BRTS yard at Bairagarh where skits, poster and drawing exhibition was organised by students on the subject of child abuse.

Addressing the people, Kailash Satyarthi urged them and young students to raise voice against any kind of abuse. On this occasion, students were also felicitated for their performance in different creative events such as elocution and speech on child sexual abuse. Later, during the interactive session awareness campaigns about child sexual abuse was also held.

Yatra started September 11 from Kanyakumari and will conclude on October 16 at New Delhi, covering 11,000 kilometres across 22 states. It has received wholehearted support from the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Kailash Satyarthi has been campaigning for the freedom, safety and security of children across the globe for the past 36 years. His Nobel Peace Prize (2014) was for his continuous efforts and struggle for the child rights.
Later in the afternoon, he also took part in the session titled ‘Doctors for children’ at People’s University. There also the main focus was given on the need to sensitise public over child abuse.

The yatra is the launch of the three-year campaign against child rape and child sexual abuse which is aimed at increasing awareness and reporting of the cases, strengthening instituitional response including medical health and compensation, ensuring protection for victims and witnesses during trials and increasing convictions of child sexual abuse in a time-bound manner.

As a part of Bharat Yatra on October 5, Vidisha district is likely to be covered and on October 6 main event will be organised at Dussehra Maidan TT Nagar at 8.30 am which will followed by march. From Dussehra Maidan the march is going to cover Rangmahal Chauraha TT Nagar Chauraha and will conclude at TT Nagar Stadium with skit show ‘Bolta Bachpan’ and band performance .
