Police solve blind murder mystery

CRIME BRANCH and Nandini police jointly solved the blind murder case in which the body of an unidentified man was found dumped in the river in Nandini. The police arrested the accused behind brutal killing following identification of the victim and investigation.

Police sources informed that the accused was identified as Vinod Sing (50), a resident of LIG Quarters, Kabir Nagar, Raipur. The police said that on September 06, a body of an unidentified man was recovered from Sheonath river in Nandini. The police said that since the body was decomposed considerably it was referred to Medical College Hospital, Raipur for autopsy and the matter was recorded as that of unnatural death.

As part of investigation into the unnatural death of the unidentified man police were contacting the neighbouring police stations and those of adjacent districts for reviewing recorded missing cases. In course of investigation the joint police team learnt about the missing case of a man matching to the description of the body of the unidentified man and his identity was established in the process. The deceased whose body was recovered from the river in suspicious circumstances was identified as Dinesh Agrawal, a resident of Harshit Nagar, Kabir Nagar, Raipur. While the autopsy report confirmed the cause of death as grievous head injury inflicted with some hard and blunt object.

While jointly investigating the case Nandini and Crime Branch police apprehended the suspect Vinod Sing who during interrogation into police custody confessed to his involvement in the brutal killing and disclosed all details concerning to the murder and dumping of the body subsequently.

In his confession the accused Vinod Singh disclosed before the police that he was a professional caterer and he had illicit relationship with the woman from the victim’s village, whose residence was in front of his kiosk. The victim Dinesh Agrawal objected to the immoral activity in the village and he had also thrashed the accused Vinod Singh along with other villagers for indulging in such activity. As per the confession of Vinod Singh, he along with the woman hatched the conspiracy and managed to entice the victim Dinesh Agrawal for relishing liquor together.

As per facts recorded in the police investigation, on August 29, after buying liquor from Heerapur, Raipur they reached Pathariya, Nandini where after consuming liquor near an under construction building at a secluded place in the village, Vinod Singh repeatedly assaulted Dinesh Agrawal with a rod while killing him on spot and he disposed off his body by throwing it in Sheonath river from the bridge. The accused was in police custody till filing of this report.
