Staff Reporter,

The controversy going on in the State capital over abattoir issue doesn’t seem to come to an end as on Thursday voluntary organisations opposing the construction of new slaughterhouse in Adampur Chawani area carried out an 18 kilometre rally till Kankali temple. The rally was not only joined by sitting and former corporators but also by Congress leaders, including P C Sharma. Since the issue was linked with a temple in the proposed area called Kankali Mata temple, workers of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also joined the rally.

District Congress President Sharma, Women’s Congress President Santosh Kasana, former Bhopal Municipal Corporation’s Chairperson Kailash Mishra and Awaneesh Bhargaw had joined the rally which was organised by corporator of ward 67 Girish Sharma. The rally commenced from Yadav tea stall in Indrapuri, Piplani at around 11 am and ended at the Kankali temple where a memorandum was placed in feet of deity by protesters with an intention to sanctify the minds of authorities. In the rally it was decided that on October 7 (Saturday), the protesters will burn effigy of the government in the new market area.

The rally was seen as one organised by the Congress as no BJP worker supported it despite the issue being linked with Hinduism.
