Staff Reporter,

Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will now plant saplings at vacant plots devoid of boundary walls. Meanwhile, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation administration has asked sanitary inspectors to seek suggestions of locals regarding the same and make a list of such vacant plots in all 79 wards of the city. JMC has started Swachhta Jagrukta Abhiyan under Swachhta Survekshan-2018 on a large scale. It is making efforts to aware people about cleanliness.

The Municipal Commissioner reviews daily progress of the drive. On Friday, senior officials of Health Department informed the Municipal Commissioner that the city has several vacant plots which are not protected by boundary wall or any type of fencing. Hence, people living near the plots dump garbage and create filth. The act also poses a threat of epidemic outbreak and leaves a negative impact on Swachhta Abhiyan.

On this, the Municipal Commissioner has directed Chief Sanitation Inspectors to enlist vacant plots which are devoid of boundary walls in all 79 wards of the city and seek suggestions from residents for plantation on plots. He said on suggestions and demand of citizens the Municipal Corporation will do plantation on vacant plots. He said on one hand, where such initiative will help control uncleanliness, on the other it will also make the environment pollution-free. He said cleaning of vacant plots and plantation on the same is included in agenda of Swachhta Survekshan 2018.

Jabalpur Municipal Corporation administration has appealed to citizens to avoid spitting on roads or public places. This creates uncleanliness and also spread diseases. Innumerable bacteria, virus present in spit spread in the environment and pose a threat to commoners. Hence, the civic body has urged people to avoid spitting at public places and help maintain cleanliness in the city.
