Minor commits Rs 9 lakh theft for gift to girl friend

A minor boy of 17-years stole Rs 9 lakh from a shop. He has told police after being held that he committed the theft for money to present gift to his girl friend. Cash Rs 8.22 lakh have been seized from his possession, informed police.

The incident of theft is a recent one and it happened during the intervening night of last October 5 and 6. The money was stolen from Barlota Vastra Bhandar, located at Mahalaxmi Cloth Market, Pandri, which is a protected commercial compound and four security guards are on duty at night. However, after the theft, a complaint was lodged in Devendra Nagar police station. Senior police officers inspected the spot in course of investigation and gave directives to Devendra Nagar Police and Crime Branch.

The minor had worked in the said shop and left it in June this year so he was aware of the routine of the shop owner that he used to keep sale realization everyday after evening in the shop. At 1am, the minor climbed on the roof of the shop from behind and entered the shop. After taking out money from drawers, he used bed-sheet of the shop as rope to make his way.

Investigations revealed that the shop was 4-storey establishment and to climb up to its roof, the adjacent pipeline was taken as support. The tin sheets of the roof were removed to enter the shop. The minor concealed the money in dicky of a vehicle. He has studied up to class 8 and was engaged in catering job. He also confessed to have committed Rs 1,700 theft earlier.
