Demanding direct students’ union polls NSUI stages protest

demandING direct elections of students’ union, the office-bearers and members of National Student Union of India (NSUI) staged state-wide protest and closed various colleges in the urban and rural areas of Jabalpur district on Saturday.
The colleges were closed by the NSUI members under the leadership of Jabalpur district president, Vijay Rajak who alleged that with the objective to suppress student's leadership, the State Government refuses to conduct direct elections of student's union. Following the same, NSUI peacefully closed down various leading colleges including Mahakoushal College, Model Science College, Navyug, GS College, St. Aloysius' College, Vikramaditya Collefe and other colleges in Katangi, Patan, Majhouli, Sihora, Panagar, Shahpura, Kundam, Barela and others.

After closing the colleges, they assembled at Maal Godam and headed towards Pachpedi to close the university.
They demanded the state government to make announcement for date of direct election within 24 hours otherwise they initiate aggressive protest.

Those who were present during peaceful protest included district president, Vijay Rajak, Koushal Yadav, Shubhanshu Kanoujia, Yogesh Chakraborti, Munish Sonkar and others.
Police were deployed heavily to put effective control over the situation and to avoid any untoward incident to be occurred. In presence of police, the NSUI delicately handled the situation and softly urged the colleges' administrations to co-operate.
