Staff Reporter,

Protest is getting shriller day by day against the opening of State’s largest new slaughter house near Kankali Mandir at Adampur Chhawani. On Sunday, farmers and Congress party leaders and corporators jointly took out 3.5-km-long rally from Ratibad to Neelbad area in protest against slaughter house at Adampur Chhawani. According to farmers, they will generate awareness in the public against slaughter house in the vicinity of Kankali Mandir.

Large number of farmers of nearby villages led by Congress leaders took out foot-march in protest of it. According to them, present form of slaughter house should be made hi-tech instead of shifting it to other places.

Earlier also, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, Leader of Opposition in Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mohammed Saghir have been protesting the shifting to Adampur Chhavni right from beginning. Various religious organisations on August 3 staged a protest against opening of State’s largest slaughter house in Bhopal’s Adampur Chhawani.

Just couple of days ago, National Green Tribunal (NGT) ordered BMC administration to start work with the demarcation as land has already been allotted by the State Government. March 2018 is deadline set by NGT for the construction of new hi-tech slaughter house. BMC administration has speeded up the work. BMC Deputy Commissioner Harish Gupta said, “Work order, tendering and other formalities have also been completed. We have speeded up the construction work.”

Congress leader P C Sharma said, “Slaughter house should not be constructed at religious place of any community. There is lot of land of stud farmhouse, where present slaughter house is there. Government should develop it into hi-tech form instead of shifting it. It is foolishness on the part of the Government to open new hi-tech slaughter house in the vicinity of Kankali Mandir and it hurts the sentiments of many devotees.”

Amit Sharma, Corporator, said, “We will go to every ward and every village to mobilise support on this issue. Today, Congressmen and farmers took out rally in protest against the construction of new slaughter house in Adampur Chhawani.”
