Raipur Cycling Club (RCC) and Tour de Raipur (TDR) jointly organised long distance cycling ‘Randonneuring’ event in Raipur recently. Deepanshu Jain, Rahul Tiwari, Dilip Jain, Akash Jaiswal and Pulak Parag participated in the event.

The next logical step was to bring Randonneuring to Chhattisgarh. For this purpose, the two major cycling clubs of Raipur - Raipur Cycling Club and Tour de Raipur joined hands to form the Raipur Randonneurs. This club is successfully registered with Audax India Randonneurs which is the national randonneuring body directly affiliated to Audax Club Parisien, France (ACP). ACP regulates brevets all over the world. As a preparation for the first of the big events, Raipur Randonneurs organised a 100 kilometer “Populaire” ride recently.

This was attended by more than 40 riders from all over Chhattisgarh and proved to be a major success. Ashish Patni, a businessman and the founder of the TDR club, was excited about the first event. Randonneuring is a form of endurance cycling. As opposed to speed cycling, it is a non-competitive sport which makes it attractive for riders of all ages. The riders have to complete a given distance on a predetermined route going through various check points.
