Load trials of ID Fan Station of Secondary De-dusting System were inaugurated by M Ravi, CEO of Bhilai Steel Plant

A significant milestone was achieved in the ongoing Modex project of Steel Melting Shop- 3 of Bhilai Steel Plant with the start of load trials of ID Fan Station of Secondary De-dusting System on 7th November 2017. The load trials were inaugurated by M Ravi, CEO, Bhilai Steel Plant and A K Mathur ED (Projects), Bhilai Steel Plant. This system, apart from ID Fan Station, involves the completion of multiple suction hoods, ducts, dampers, Dry Electrostatic Precipitators, etc. involving approximately 4000 Metric tonns of equipment erection and finishing.

The Secondary De-dusting System serves to collect the dust laden fumes occurring during the different operation phases of the LD converters which are collected by fume hoods and are conveyed via ducts to the Electrostatic Precipitators. The clean gas coming out of Electrostatic Precipitator is conveyed to the Clean Gas Exhaust Stack and from there to the atmosphere.

Three ID Fans at this ID Fan station generate the necessary suction for conveyance of the fumes and clean gas. The fans are driven via state of the art VVVF Drives, which provide variable speed control by an electric motor with variable speed. The complete design, manufacturing and supply of these system as part of the total BOF complex has been provided by M/s PRIMETALS TECHNOLOGIES and were erected by M/s ESSAR Projects under collective guidance of engineers from Bhilai Steel Plant’s Project Steel Zone, PRIMETALS and ESSAR Projects.
