Bhandara MP dares party leadership, blasts PM, CM

Expressing his disappointment over Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) response to his demands related to people of other backward classes (OBC) and distressed farmers, Nana Patole, Member of Parliament of BJP from Bhandara-Gondia has decided to meet Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi during forthcoming winter session of the Parliament to garner support for the farmers.

Creating more headache for the party, Patole also declared to organise a convention at Akola on December 1 to highlight raw deal to cotton-paddy and soyabean growers in which former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, and former Union Minister Shatrughan Sinha will also participate. After Sinha’s bitter attack against Centre, Patole was the only BJP MP who openly supported him. Patole, while talking to mediapersons, said, “Rahul Gandhi has invited him to discuss certain issues and will meet during winter session of the Parliament.” Recently, Patole also met Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray.

Patole rejected the rumors that he would join Congress in near future and maintained that he was very much in the BJP. However, he dropped enough hints to declare future course of action in February-2018. He is garnering support of all the parties over the issue of farmers death due to pesticide spray in Yavatmal district. Patole claimed that he would demand to set up a parliamentary committee to probe the matter and give directions to the government.

Heavily coming down over BJP Chief Spokesperson Madhav Bhandari for his acidic remarks against him, Patole claimed that he had raised the issues of public importance in the executive committee meeting held at Pune. The party felicitated him in Kolhapur meeting for his performance in the local body election. I had joined party in the year 2009 when it was in bad shape, Patole claimed while rejecting the charge of non-performance and discontent against him in his own constituency.

Patole rejected the charge that he was eyeing ministerial berth and maintained that he was fighting for the rights of the OBCs. He claimed that he had raised these issues in party platform, in parliament and with the Prime Minister also but he did not get concrete assurance or action from them. Taking pot-shots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the disgruntled MP claimed that they have miserably failed to fulfill the pre-poll promises given to the people and particularly farmers about remunerative prices.

Due to faulty policies, the suicides of farmers are increasing, he charged while launching a blistering attack against Fadnavis government. He claimed that that he had confronted with Prime Minister over the issue of OBC. The government should implement pre-poll promises honestly. He also criticised the demonetisation move and claimed that it was a complete failure. Prashant Pawar, convenor of Jai Jawan- Jai Kisan was present.
