Demanding fulfillment of promises made in election manifesto, members of various farmer unions under the banner of Kissan-Mazdoor Mahasangh have staged demonstration at Budhapara here on Friday. The members have demanded for drought relief package to 92 tehsils declared drought-hit by the State Government.

Farmer leader Dr Sanket Thakur and Rupan Chandrakar alleged that ruling Bharatiya Janata Party Government lured the farmers for votes by making tall claims including purchase of paddy on supporting price, bonus, free seeds distribution and free electricity to those farmers using 5 horse power irrigation pumps.

Dr Sanket Thakur expressed his concern and said that State Government during the monsoon season had declared 92 tehsils drought-affected and promised for compensation to farmers whose crops got affected due to less rains in the areas. These farmers were promised of heavy financial package by the State Government but till date they are being denied of the help.

Similarly, the farmers who have been constantly staging protests to demand supporting price on paddy purchase and bonus are not getting justice. He further added that there is resentment among the farmers and warn that if their demands are not met early, farmer unions will intensify protest across the state.
