Kovind visits Raipur 2nd time in a week; Governor, CM accord him warm welcome

President Ram Nath Kovind reached Raipur on Saturday morning via special flight of Indian Air Force from Bhopal to visit Amarkantak. As President, it was the second visit of Kovind to Raipur, within a span of one week.

The President had visited Raipur earlier on a two day visit on November 5-6. Governor Balramji Das Tandon and Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh accorded warm welcome to President Ram Nath Kovind at Swami Vivekananda Airport. Raipur Mayor Pramod Dubey, Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand, DGP A N Upadhyay and Raipur Collector O P Choudhary and Raipur SP Dr Sanjeev Shukla and other senior officials were also present on the occasion. President Kovind was accompanied by First Lady Savita Kovind, Governor of Madhya Pradesh O P Kohli and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan. They stayed there for a while at the airport and then proceeded for Amarkantak via helicopter. President attended the second convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University at Amarkantak, as Chief Guest.

During his earlier visit to Raipur, President Kovind was in Chhattisgarh for 23 hours, when he had come to grace the concluding ceremony of 5-day Rajyotsava event held on the occasion of Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day.
