As many as 300 lecturers and principals of Government higher secondary and high schools in the district will be prepared as career counsellors. To materialise the dream of District Collector O P Choudhary to make students career-oriented, district education officer A N Banjara has initiated several measures. As part of the ongoing experiments, the Collector and the DEO have roped in on the founder of Super 30 Programme Mathematician Anand Kumar who will motivate the lecturers and principals of Government high schools and higher secondary schools during a motivational session to be held at Professor J N Pandey Multi-purpose Higher Secondary School here on Monday at 11 am.

These lecturers and principals will pass the motivational mantra they get from Anand Kumar on their students, said DEO Banjara. “It is not practical for us to reach to each and every student and encourage them for taking up career in IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, NITs and other higher studies. Therefore, we have decided to prepare at least one staff of the school for the guidance of students. Anand Kumar can be the best person to be roped in,” said the DEO.

Anand Kumar is best known for his Super 30 programme, which he started in Patna, Bihar in 2002, and which coaches economically backward students for IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). By 2017, 396 out of the 450 had made it to the IITs and Discovery Channel showcased his work in a documentary.
