RAIPUR,

IN what is being called as an utter contradiction and insanitary two pregnant women were sharing one bed at the Labour Wards of the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital Raipur where the Chief Minister’s daughter-in-law delivered a healthy baby on Saturday.

There are only 48 beds in the Labour Ward 3 and 4.
Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital Raipur, one of the biggest Government hospitals in the State capital, is facing inadequate infrastructures and shortage of staff.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesman Vikas Tiwari alleged that while the Chief Minister daughter-in-law got a VIP treatment at the Government hospital, the common people were forced to share one bed in the same hospital. The Chief Minister himself should visit the Government hospital and take cognizance to improve infrastructures there, the Congress leader asserted. The severity of the situation could be gauged from the fact that two pregnant women are being forced to share one bed.

Speaking to The Hitavada, Health Minister Ajay Chandrakar, said, “It is Mansik Diwaliyapan of the Congress that they are coming up with such issues. The hospital is for the people in the State and the Government is all focusedto provide the best of the treatment”.
The official sources claimed that the Hospital is struggling to cope up with ever increasing number of patients.

The Hospital is facing shortage of staffs. The hospital administration has sent proposals to the government to fill the vacant posts and increase infrastructure in the hospital, the sources added. But the government has been slow in its response to these demands, added the Congress leader.
